We’re delighted to share our conversation with mixed cultural First Nations artist Lisa Waup, whose practice weaves together themes of identity, family, memory, and belonging. This interview follows the launch of her significant public artwork ‘Convergence’ which was curated by our team for Fitzroy & Co. based in Fitzroy North, Melbourne.

Through printmaking, textiles, sculpture, and large-scale public works, Lisa creates deeply layered pieces that honour cultural knowledge while embracing contemporary expression. In this interview, she reflects on her creative journey, the role of storytelling in her work, and the ways she navigates connections across place and community.

In this interview, Lisa discusses her creative journey, the significance of Convergence, and how storytelling continues to shape her practice across both intimate and monumental scales.

Convergence — the largest public artwork of her career to date — powerfully reflects on connection, cultural identity, and the weaving together of past, present and future.
